100% Maple Shells
The Natural series shells are made from 6 layers of maple with a total thickness of 4.8 mm. The top priority when designing Polmuz drums was sound. Balanced mid and high tones provide great versatility in many musical styles. The full, powerful character and rich resonance of the shells were achieved through the use of carefully selected layers of maple and a focus on shell shaping and edge contouring.
Finish
The drums in the Natural series are oiled and then waxed with 100% natural, health-safe products. Natural oils and waxes excellently protect the wood from moisture and dirt while giving them a beautiful appearance.
Wood protected with natural oils and waxes remains natural to the touch and breathes, giving it a full and beautiful sound.
The process of finishing the shells with oils and waxes is significantly longer than standard lacquer finishes and is done 100% by hand, giving each drum a unique look.
Mounting System
The non-intrusive mounting system ensures maximum resonance and stability regardless of conditions. The streamlined design makes it easier to position the toms closer together, providing greater freedom and comfort. Additionally, aluminum parts ensure a lighter weight.
Hardware
All hardware on Polmuz drums is finished with a chrome coating. The beautiful appearance gives a sense of the highest quality materials used and breaks away from the brand’s old tarnished reputation. The cast logo on the Polmuz shells is a true declaration of quality and style. Made of solid brass, the chromed Polmuz name guarantees and showcases the highest level of craftsmanship in every drum.
Bass Drum Claws
The bass drum claws in Polmuz sets are equipped with rubber gaskets that help protect their wooden hoops from damage. In this setup, the claws and hoops form a cohesive unit that doesn’t separate or rattle, even with loose tunings.
Drumheads
The drums feature Evans G2 clear or Calftone batter heads with high-quality single-ply resonant heads branded under Polmuz. The bass drum heads are either Evans Emad or Calftone depending on the choice. The resonant heads feature a distinctive vintage-style design with the prominent Polmuz logo.
Edges
The 45° edge bevel ensures optimal contact between the shell and the drumhead. Each edge on Polmuz drums has been sanded, polished, and additionally waxed, ensuring perfect contact between the drumhead and the shell. This results in a clear sound across the full frequency range. The sharp edge finish provides a quick attack and beautiful sustain, and the edge on Model 01 is checked and given additional treatment to meet the highest standards. If necessary, the edges are tuned by a qualified luthier.
Lugs
Tube Lug type lugs are characteristic of all Polmuz drums. The unique Tube Lug design makes them look like traditional mounts, but the lug body “floats” above the shell to minimize contact with the drum. This allows the entire drum to resonate fully. To minimize the risk of detuning, each lug has a long screw that is deeply seated in the lug. Additionally, each lug features double protection in the form of metal and nylon washers, ensuring tuning stability.
