The top Polmuz model
We build the Model 1 Bubinga from scratch in our workshop in Gdynia. It is our heaviest and most expensive kit: nothing in Model 1 sits above it.
Bubinga is a trade name for a few African tree species of the genus Guibourtia. It is dark, heavy and very dense: dry, it weighs around 890 kg per cubic metre, maple around 700, walnut around 600. You hear that density from the first stroke: a huge low end, strong projection and a clear attack, and the drum cuts right through the band.
The kit shells are only 4.8 mm thick, so bubinga is not just for rock, it works in quieter music too. Dense wood lets us sand a very sharp bearing edge, so the drum tunes up easily and sounds modern and focused.
Since 2017 the bubinga trade has been controlled by the CITES convention, and finished musical instruments have been exempt from permits since 2019. We ship finished kits within Poland and abroad.

Listen to the bubinga
Paweł Ostrowski from the 4Drummer channel recorded a 20/12/16 kit in three tunings, without EQ and with a gentle graphic EQ. At the end, the toms and the snare with no damping at all.
We told the whole story of the test, with the heads and the timestamps of every tuning, on our blog: Bubinga drums: the heavy artillery of our workshop.

How we build a bubinga drum
Every drum is made by hand, in our workshop in Gdynia.
- A 45° bearing edge, sanded and waxed, ultra sharp on every drum, the bass drum included. It gives a fast, clear attack.
- Tube lugs barely touch the shell, so the drum resonates freely. Long tension rods with a metal and a nylon washer hold the tuning.
- The tom mounts do not go through the shell.
- The bass drum claws are die-cast and have rubber pads, and the bass drum legs are sturdy, with a retractable spike.
- Inside every drum there is a sticker with the owner's full name.

Finish and hardware
Standard hardware is chrome. Gold also goes beautifully with the warm colour of bubinga, and black chrome is coming soon.
Natural wax shows the whole figure of the bubinga. You can also choose coloured oil, lacquer, black matte or our artistic finish, painted by hand with a brush. The Premium Quilted version is bubinga with a rippling grain figure that can never be repeated.
